The Chemistry Alumni meet 2021was convened on25th September 2021 at 6.00p.m on zoom platform. Dr. A. Madhavan, Head and Associate Professor, Department of chemistry, V. O. Chidambaram College, welcomed the participants and updated the alumni about the achievements of the department and college in recent years. This was followed by a short felicitation speech by Dr. J. Sidharthan, Associate Professor in chemistry. Dr. S. Muthumariappan gave a brief introduction about Dr. Pitchumani, VC, MSUniversity,( Alumnus), who shared his memories as a student in the campus and gave some ideas for young aspiring alumni. A few alumni like Dr. Manoharan, Dr. Rajendran(Professor and Head,Dept of Chemistry, S. V. N. College, Madurai), Mr. V.Manimozhiyan( AD, Directorate of local fund Audit, Madurai) and Dr. Dhanapalan shared their experiences in our college and registered their gratitude to all the stalwarts in chemistry, who paved the way for them to reach their goals. All their speeches centered around the fact that, their current disposition was due to the learning gained in V. O. Chidambaram College. Dr A Dhanabalan, Chief Scientist, SABIC International, (1983-85 Batch), a great researcher, has a considerable number of patents to his credit, volunteered to guide students to pursue research. He is also a great Tamil poet, who named this alumni meet vizhuthugalin vizha, and wrote a Tamil kavithai on it(given below). The meeting was animated with a game of connections, organized by Dr. S. Priya Velammal, Assistant Professor in chemistry. Around 112 members were in the meeting, and many students of yesteryears shared some memories. Dr. R. R. Muthuchudarkodi, Associate Professor in chemistry, proposed the vote of thanks. The meeting ended on a nostalgic note by Mr. S. Maragathasundaram, Alumnus and former head of department of chemistry. Thanks to Dr. Sheeba Thavamani, Assistant Professor in chemistry,who designed the invitation. Thanks are also due to Dr. T. Peter Amaladhas( Associate Professor), Dr. R. Baby Suneetha(Assistant Professor), Dr. P. Rajakani(Assistant Professor), Dr. K. M. Ponvel(Assistant Professor), Dr. S. Alwin David (Assistant Professor) and Dr. A. Vimala (Assistant Professor) for all the inputs and PR work done with enthusiasm. Lastly, the meeting was carried on with josh by the emcee Dr. Jessica Fernando (Assistant Professor).
